Three-star 2025 interior offensive lineman Takaylen Muex, who committed to the Miami football program on Thursday, was compared to current Hurricane Anez Cooper by position coach Alex Mirabal, per Stephen Wagner of CaneSport. Cooper was also a three-star high school prospect.

Muex is currently the 84th-ranked IOL and 152nd player in Florida by 247Sports. The 247Sports composite rankings do not include Muex. Cooper was the 1,149th player, 109th IOL and 47th prospect in Alabama in the 2022 class. Cooper has played 23 games with 17 starts in his two collegiate seasons.

The recruitment of Muex moved fast. Per Wagner, Miami offered Muex on May 7, he visited 13 hours later and committed just over a week after that. Muex is the seventh commit in the 2025 Miami class and the only current OL. Miami previously had a commitment from three-star offensive tackle Lamar Williams.

Central Florida, Louisville and Syracuse are the only other power conference programs to offer Muex per his 247Sports profile. Muex will take official visits to Miami the weekend of May 31, UCF June 7 and Florida Atlantic June 14. Miami pitched Muex on its recent OL development.

All the OL on the projected Miami two-deep depth chart have eligibility remaining beyond 2024, except for center Zach Carpenter. Left tackle Jalen Rivers and Cooper will be eligible for the 2025 NFL Draft. Expect Muex to rise in the recruiting rankings when he signs a national letter of intent in December.
