Norchad Omier represents Miami basketball on All-ACC team

Forward Norchad Omier is the only player from the Miami basketball team to earn All-ACC following the 2023-24 season as announced by the conference on Monday.

Norchad Omier earned All-ACC for the second consecutive season as announced by the conference on Monday. Omier earned second-team all-acc after being named third-team after the 2022-23 season. Omier is averaging 17.0 points per game, 9.9 rebounds per game and is shooting 55.7 percent from the floor.

While Omier was the sole Miami basketball player to earn all-acc this season, freshman Keyshawn George finished sixth in the balloting for ACC Rookie of the Year with one vote. Omier leads the acc with 16 double-doubles in 2923-35 and is the only player in the conference with three games of 15 points and 15 rebounds.

As a redshirt junior, Omier has one season of eligibility remaining. Omier took part of senior day festivities last week, but has the option to return next season. Omier has been a constant for Miami this season playing in 30 out of the Hurricanes' 31 games. Miami has been besieged with injuries this season.

Starters have missed a combined 13 games per head coach Jim Larranaga. The buzzer-beating loss at Syracuse was the only game that Omier missed. Omier has scored in double figures 26 times and had at least 10 rebounds 17 times this season. With a thin bench in the post, Omier has been a vital player for Miami this season.

The All-ACC selections, Coach of the Year and individual Player of the Year awards were announced Tuesday by the conference on the eve of the postseason tournament. Miami will open ACC Tournament play at 6 PM Tuesday on the ACC Network. Omier will matchup versus Boston College center Quinten Post.

Post also earned second-team All-Conference on Monday. Boston College defeated Miami twice during the regular season. Omier averaged 15.0 PPG and 9.5 RPG in two games versus Boston College this season. Post smoked Miami with an average of 21.0 PPG and 7.5 RPG in 2023-24.
