Numbers prove how dominant Miami has been in 2024

Miami leads multiple ACC categories on offense and defense proving how dominant the Hurricanes have been through their first four games.

Miami ranks first in the ACC in points scored, points allowed, passing yards, total yards, total defense, sacks and third down conversions on offense and defense. By any measure, Miami has been the best team in the ACC through the first four weeks of the 2024 season. Miami now begins its eight-game ACC schedule.

Miami is averaging 52.3 points per game. Pittsburgh is second in the ACC averaging 48,5 PPGy. Against FBS opponents, Miami leads the ACC averaging 51.0 PPG. Clemson is a distant second versus FBS opponents averaging 42.7 PPG. Miami also leads the ACC averaging 41.0 PPG versus Power Conference opponents.

The Miami defense has been exceptional through four games leading the ACC allowing 10.3 PPG. Louisville is a close second allowing 11.0 PPG. Miami remains first in the ACC versus FBS opponents allowing 10.7 PPG. California is second at 12.7 PPG. Cal is first in the ACC allowing 14.0 PPG versus Power Conference opponents.

Miami is first in the ACC averaging 605.0 yards per game. Pittsburgh is second averaging 522.8 total YPG. The margin widens with Miami averaging 623.7 YPG versus FBS opponents. Pittsburgh is second in the ACC averaging 482.3 YPG versus FBS teams. Miami leads the ACC versus Power Five with 529 yards versus Florida.

Miami leads the ACC averaging 405.0 passing yards per game. Syracuse is second averaging 358.0 passing YPG. Miami is averaging an astounding 432.0 passing YPG versus FBS opponents. Syracuse remains second at 358.0 YPG. Miami threw for 385 yards at Florida which tops the ACC versus power conference opponents.

Miami leads the ACC allowing 232.8 total YPG. The Manny Diaz led Duke defense is second in the ACC allowing 259.3 YPG. Miami remains first versus FBS opponents allowing 247.0 YPG. California is second versus FBS opponents allowing 282.0 YPG. North Carolina leads the ACC allowing 244 YPG versus Power Conference opponents.

The Miami defense has a slight edge over Duke with 16 sacks to the Blue Devils' 15. Florida State and Virginia Tech lead the ACC with 13 sacks versus FBS opponents, but have played one more game each. Florida State leads the ACC with 10 sacks versus power conference opponents but is one of only three teams with three games.

A big reason for Miami's success this season has been their performance on third down offensively and defensively. Miami has converted 64.29 percent on third down. Syracuse is a distant second at 53.33 percent. The Hurricanes have remained consistent converting 63.33 percent versus FBS opponents on third down.

Miami is holding opponents to 23.53 percent on third down. Louisville leads the ACC holding FBS opponents to 22.22 percent on third down. Miami is second at 23.68 percent. Miami jumps back atop the ACC in their one game versus a Power Conference opponent, Miami held Florida to one for nine on third down.

The Miami schedule gets more difficult in ACC play. Miami dominated the two opponents that were expected to challenge them. Miami beat Florida and South Florida by a combined 91-32. Most of the ACC opponents are comparable to UF and USF. Louisville is the only team Miami plays the rest of the season top 15 in scoring and points allowed.
