After a loss at Syracuse and a win at Notre Dame, the Miami basketball team returns home on Saturday to host Pittsburgh. Miami and Pittsburgh have fallen this season after playing for an ACC Regular Season championship in the final game of the 2022-23 season.
Miami pulled away in the second half at Notre Dame without forward Matthew Cleveland. Cleveland injured his hip against Notre Dame and played only 11 minutes. Cleveland's status versus Pittsburgh has not been updated. Expect Bensley Joseph to be back in the starting lineup if Cleveland is out.
Kyshawn George would move to the four and Miami would play Joseph, Nijel Pack and Wooga Poplar at guard if Cleveland does not play. Losing Cleveland would be another blow to an already thin Miami bench. Christian Watson played 14 minutes and Michael Nwoko five as the only players off the bench versus Notre Dame other than Joseph.
Pittsburgh brings a two-game winning streak on Saturday to Coral Gables. The Panthers won 80-76 at Duke last Saturday and 72-64 at Georgia Tech on Tuesday. With three straight road games, they Panthers could be weary versus Miami. The Hurricanes need to get off to a good start versus the Panthers.
