Pro Football Focus names Miami in The top 10 receiving corps in the country
Pro Football Focus recently named Miami the seventh-best receiving corps in the country. The Hurricanes are led by Xavier Restrepo, who set the Miami single-season record with 85 receptions and finished with 1,102 receiving yards during the 2023 season.
Jacolby George had a breakout season in 2023. George finished second in the ACC with 540 yards after the catch in 2023 per PFF. Miami added Houston WR Samuel Brown as a transfer this spring. Brown, George and Restrepo form a rare trio of returning WRs who all recorded over 800 yards in 2023.
Brown was an elusive WR in 2023 ranking second in the Big XII with 20 forced missed tackles on receptions per Max Chadwick of PFF. All three of Miami's projected 2024 starting WRs were adept at creating explosive receiving plays in 2023.
Restrepo was 10th nationally in 2023 with 20 receptions of 20 yards or more. Brown and George tied for 76th nationally with 12 receptions of 20 or more yards. With Cam Ward at quarterback for Miami in 2024, Brown, George and Restrepo could all improve their amount of explosive receptions in 2024.
Brown, George and Restrepo are all in the PFF top 10 2024 ACC returning receivers. Restrepo is the top returning receiver in the ACC with an 87.4 grade, George is ninth at 73.4 and Brown is 10th at 72.9. Miami is the only team with three top-10 returning receivers. SMU is the only other program with two top-10 returning receivers.
With Ward throwing to Brown, George and Restrepo, Miami should have one of the most prolific passing offenses nationally in 2024. Ward is the top returning passer in college football in 2024 after averaging 311.1 yards per game in 2023. First-round picks Michael Penix, Bo Nix and Jayden Daniels were the only QBs ahead of Ward in 2023.
