The Miami offensive line is eighth in the "College Football: The top 10 offensive lines in the country" posted by Pro Football Focus earlier this week. Miami returns starting right guard Anez Cooper and starting tackles Francis Mauigoa and Jalen Rivers on the OL in 2024.

Indiana transfer center Zach Carpenter is Miami's other projected OL starter in 2024. Miami will enter August training camp with the starting left guard still to be determined. Redshirt Sophomore Matthew McCoy and redshirt freshman Samson Okunlola are likely to be the primary contenders to be the starting LG.

Mauigoa and Okunola were five-star signees in the 2024 class who had very different true freshmen seasons. Mauigoa started all 13 games in 2023 and earned freshman All-American. Okunola played in only three games in 2024 before suffering a season-ending injury.

Carpenter provides Miami with an experienced OL. In the past three seasons, Carpenter played 27 games for Indiana with 25 starts. The four projected 2024 Miami starting OLs all earned high PFF grades. PFF stated Miami is good enough to be in their top 10 2024 OLs, with the potential to be much higher at the end of 2024.

"8. MIAMI HURRICANES
Mauigoa started as a freshman and ranked third among ACC tackles in run-blocking grade (70.7). Right behind him in fourth was his teammate Jalen Rivers, who’ll be entering his third year as a starter for Miami.

Zach Carpenter will be starting at center after transferring from Indiana. He led all Big Ten centers this past season with a 1.9% pressure rate allowed."

The Miami OL is expected to be the foundation of a balanced offense in 2024. Projecting quarterback Cam Ward and creating holes for Damien Martinez and Mark Fletcher to run through will be critical for Miami in 2024. Expect Carpenter and Rivers to be the leaders on the Miami OL.

Miami should have good depth on the OL in 2024. McCoy or Okunlola will be a good sixth OL in the rotation and redshirt sophomore Ryan Rodriguez is a quality backup and heir apparent to Carpenter at center. Miami is building a good OL for the future with Mauigoa and Okunlola and has experience with Carpenter, Cooper and Rivers.
