Projecting where Miami football will be ranked on AP Top 25 poll on Monday
The Miami football team has a consensus ranking of 19.25 among four national sites that projected the AP Top 25 that will be released on Monday. The College Football News, Canes Warning's parent site Fansided, On3 and 247Sports have all posted AP Top 25 projections ahead of the release on Monday
The College Football News released their AP Top 25 projections on July 25. Miami is projected to be 25th in the AP Top 25 by Pete Fiutak, the publisher of The College Football News. Fiutak provided a list of his projected AP Top 25 without writing a summary of any of the teams.
Florida State is projected ninth by Fiutak. The Seminoles are the only team on the 2024 Miami schedule projected to be in the AP Top 25 by Fiutak. Louisville and Virginia Tech are listed as teams projected to be in the Preseason AP Poll Also Receiving Votes. Miami hosts FSU and Virginia Tech and plays at Louisville in 2024.
Fansided projects Miami to be ranked 17th in the AP Top 25. Cody Williams stated that an "argument that Miami deserves to be knocking on the door of the Top 10." Williams also stated that Mario Cristobal teams constantly underachieving could deter voters from rankings Miami higher in the AP Top 25.
Williams ranks Florida State 12th, Clemson 14th and Virginia Tech 24th. Williams did not project any teams among others receiving votes. Miami has a schedule set up to exceed its ranking early. After opening the season at Florida, Miami should be favored in five straight games until they play at Louisville on October 19.
Jesse Simonton of On3 projects Miami 20th in the AP Top 25. Simonton stated that Miami might be the most hyped off-season team "If not for Ohio State, Texas or Ole Miss." Miami signed the fourth-best 2024 class and 10th transfer class. Simonton specifically singled out the transfer addition as to why Miami will be ranked in the AP Top 25.
Brad Crawford of 247Sports has the most optimism for Miami in the AP Top 25. Crawford projected on Sunday that Miami will be 15th in the AP Top 25 when the rankings are released on Monday. Crawford stated that analysts have a better of teams of Miami's personnel which will place the Hurricanes 15th.
Miami was 19th in the USA Today Coaches Poll that was released on August 5. Crawford credited Miami with strengthening their two-deep roster more than anyone else nationally through the transfer portal during the 2024 offseason. Quarterback Cam Ward, running back Damien Martinez and the front seven were mentioned by Crawford.
Miami began the 2023 season unranked. The improved roster has significantly elevated expectations for Miami in 2024. The pressure on Cristobal after finishing 12-13 during his first two seasons with Miami is high entering the 2024 season. Miami has to contend for an ACC Championship and College Football Playoff berth in 2024 to silence Cristobal's critics.
