David Lake of Inside the U reported that sophomore quarterback Jacurri Brown is returning to the Miami football program in 2024. Brown did not play during the 2023 regular season before starting the Pinstripe Bowl versus Rutgers. Brown will be a redshirt sophomore in 2024.

Miami receives some stability at QB with Brown returning. Rising sophomore Emory Williams is coming off of a compound arm fracture in the Florida State game in November and Miami signed Judd Anderson in the 2024 class. Miami will likely continue to pursue QB in the transfer portal.

Brown completed 20 passes in 31 attempts for 181 yards with one touchdown and one interception while rushing for 57 yards and two touchdowns in the 31-24 bowl loss to Pinstripe Bowl loss to Rutgers. In 2022, Brown completed 60.0 percent of his passes for 230 yards, two TDs and two interceptions with 221 yards rushing.

Brown provides Miami with an element as a runner at QB that the Hurricanes have not had since D'Eriq King in 2020 and early in 2021. With a big arm at 6'4 and 230 pounds, Brown can challenge defenses vertically through the air, using his athleticism in the open field and short yardage as a powerful runner.

Brown started in the Pinstripe Bowl after three-year starter Tyler Van Dyke entered the transfer portal. Van Dyke started the final two games of the regular season in a loss to Louisville and a win over Boston College. Williams started versus the win over Clemson when Van Dyke was out with an injury and against Florida State.

Van Dyke transfered to Wisconsin. Brown is currently the most experienced QB on the Miami roster. Miami has had two offensive coordinators in the pair of seasons Brown has been on the roster. Shannon Dawson was the third Miami offensive coordinator and QB coach in as many seasons in 2023.
