Rivals gives Miami football highest ACC spring transfer grade
The A- Rivals.Com graded the 2024 Miami football transfer class is the highest in the ACC. SMU, coached by former Miami offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee was the only other ACC transfer class to receive as high as a B+. Miami is third in the ACC 2024 Rivals transfer class ranking.
Florida State is 16th nationally in the 2024 rivals transfer class rankings, Syracuse is 17th and Miami is 19th. Rivals examined each ACC transfer class by "Grading how each ACC program did in the spring portal window." Miami added six transfers during the spring portal window,
Miami added Jaylin Alderman, LB (Louisville), Simeon Barrow Jr., DT (Michigan State), Samuel Brown, WR (Houston), Damien Martinez, RB (Oregon State), Dyoni Hill, CB (Marshall) and DL Tyler Baron (Tennessee). Gaby Urrutia and Matt Zenitz of On3 reported on Friday Barrow could be leaving Miami after four weeks in the program.
Jacey Zembal of Rivals highlighted the stats of Martinez, Barrow, Brown and Hill. Brown and Martinez are projected starters for Miami in 2024. Hill will compete to be the third CB in the rotation. Barrow will likely be a starter for Miami if he stays in Coral Gables. If Barrow leaves, 2024 winter transfers C.J. Clark and Marley Cook project as the starting DTs.

Alderman and Baron (who wasn't listed or mentioned by Zembal) are projected to be in the Miami defensive rotation in 2024. Miami has upgraded the depth, experience and talent on the 2024 roster through the transfer portal. Miami added help for quarterback Cam Ward on offensive and key depth and proven production defensively.

The 14 2024 Miami transfer class is tied for the second lowest in the top 25 with Alabama. Only Oregon, which has the ninth-ranked class with nine transfer additions, has a higher-ranked class than Miami with fewer commits. The majority of the transfers Miami added should impact their 2024 season.
