Simeon Barrow tweets statement with Miami football program status
Defensive lineman Simeon Barrow who transferred to Miami from Michigan State in early May dismissed rumors that he is leaving the Hurricanes in a post to X on Thursday. If Barrow left Miami he would have had to petition the NCAA to be able to play in 2024.
Barrow was considering Missouri per multiple reports last week. The Inside the U podcast discussed why Barrow reportedly left the Miami football team earlier this week. Barrow reportedly left practice and returned home to Georgia last week. Whatever might have happened appears to have been resolved.
The 247Sports Database ranks Barrow as the 690th transfer and 69th DL in the 2024 portal. Barrow, North Carolina State transfer C.J. Clark and Marley Cook from Middle Tennessee State project at the top of the Miami defensive tackle rotation during the 2024 season.
Barrow staying with Miami is a big boost to the 2024 DL. Barrow has 110 tackles, 18.5 TFLs and 10.5 sacks during his collegiate career. The addition of Barrow provides Miami with an experienced DT who has played 34 games with 30 starts during his collegiate career.
Barrow was part of a successful spring for Miami adding transfers. Cornerback Dyoni Hill, edge rusher Tyler Baron, linebacker Jaylin Alderman, running back Damien Martinez and wide receiver Sam Brown all transferred to Miami after spring practice in addition to Barrow.
Other than adding Barrow, Clark and Cook, Miami returns Anthony Campbell, Joshua Horton and Ahmad Moten at DT in 2024. Miami signed five-star DL Armondo Blount and Justin Scott and four-star DT Artavius Jones in the 2024 class as players who should compete for snaps this fall.
Barrow staying with Miami is a boost to the Hurricanes' 2024 DT rotation. Miami should have one of the best DLs nationally with an elite group of edge rushers. Miami also added Marshall edge rusher Elijah Alston to the rotation with Rueben Bain, Akheem Mesidor and Baron.
