The 5 best quarterbacks in Miami Hurricanes football history
By Sam Fariss
Steve Walsh played just two seasons for the Hurricanes after waiting in the wings during legendary quarterback Vinny Testaverde's career at Miami.
Walsh finally earned the starting job in 1987 and immediately lit up the field for the Canes.
Over two seasons, Walsh amassed 5,564 passing yards and 49 touchdowns, while only throwing 19 interceptions.
When Walsh was selected as the starter over Craig Erickson in 1987, he led Miami to its second-ever national title, defeating the Oklahoma Sooners.
In his final year with the Canes, Walsh finished fourth on the Heisman Trophy ballot and was the runner-up for the Davey O'Brien Award.
