The 5 best quarterbacks in Miami Hurricanes football history
By Sam Fariss
A two time National Champion. A Heisman Trophy winner. A Maxwell Award winner. A Walter Camp Award winner. A Chic Harley Award winner. A Davey O'Brien Award winner. A Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award winner. A unanimous All-American.
Gino Torretta is undeniably the greatest Miami quarterback of all time, if not one of the greatest college quarterbacks in history.
Despite injuring his throwing hand in 1990, Torretta returned to the field for Miami in '91 and set the college football scene on fire.
After winning the 1989 national title, Torretta stormed back to dominance, leading the Canes to another National Championship win in 1991.
Even though Torretta and the Canes lost to Alabama in the 1992 National Championship, he was one of, if not the, best player in college football (evidenced by his very full trophy case).
