Five-star cornerback D.J. Pickett is trending to Oregon ahead of his commitment announcement on Wednesday at 7 PM. There are three 247Sports crystal balls logged projecting Pickett to Oregon. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine projects Oregon with a 79.4 percent chance for a Pickett commitment.

Pickett has LSU, Miami and Oregon as his finalists. Georgia, LSU, Miami and Oregon are the programs that hosted Pickett for official visits in June. Florida, LSU and Miami hosted Pickett for the most overall visits with five each. Pickett visited Georgia, Michigan and Oregon four times each.

Pickett is the sixth-ranked prospect, second CB and top player in Florida in the 2025 247Sports composite rankings. A commitment from Pickett would boost Miami up one spot to eighth, passing Oklahoma in the 2025 class rankings. Oregon is currently the fourth-ranked class behind Ohio State, Alabama and Georgia.

Miami is on pace to sign a third consecutive top-10 class. Miami is also trending to have the top class in the ACC for the third straight year. Four-star prospect Chris Ewald and three-star Timothy Merritt are the sole CBs committed to Miami in the 2024 class. Miami has other options at CB other than Pickett.

Four-star CB Jaboree Antoine has his commitment announcement scheduled for Saturday. Miami is thought to be in a good position for a commitment from Antione. Steve Wiltfong, the On3 Vice President stated there is some confidence at Florida State for Antoine, but LSU and Miami are still in the running.

If Pickett commits to Oregon as expected Miami is still in a good position at CB. Ewald and Merritt set a good foundation for Miami at CB in the 2025 class. Miami is also awaiting a decision from Florida Legacy and Booker T. Washington CB Ben Hanks. The transfer portal will also be an option for CBs in the 2025 class.
