Two Miami football players named top 2024 24 must-watch true freshmen
Brad Crawford of 247Sports named linebacker Cameron Pruitt and tight end Elija Lofton from the Miami football team to his "College football recruiting: Ranking 24 must-watch true freshmen during the 2024 season." Lofton and Pruitt being included on this list far exceeds their 2024 class rankings.
Lofton was the 181st prospect, 10th TE, the top player in Nevada and ninth signee in the 2024 Miami class. Pruitt was the 489th prospect, 45th safety, 28th player in Alabama and 15th signee out of 27 players in the 2024 Miami class. Lofton and Pruitt both have a chance to break the two-deep depth chart for Miami.
Lofton was an elite and versatile performer during Spring practice. Shannon Dawson and the Miami offensive coaches had Lofton line up at H-Back, running back and TE. Lofton is expected to compete for snaps with sophomore Riley Williams and ninth-year senior Cameron McCormick behind projected starter Elijah Arroyo.
Pruitt is projected as the primary backup at outside LB for Miami behind starters Wesley Bissainthe and Jaylin Alderman. Pruitt quickly passed the veteran LBs on the Miami roster and his higher ranked class Adarius Hayes. After signing with Miami as a safety, Pruitt has quickly adapted to LB.
"Post-spring information suggests the four-star tight end is one of the unexpected jewels of this class for Mario Cristobal. Lofton turned heads during several scrimmages...He brings power and athleticism to a Miami offense with several new faces at playmaker spots."

Dawson will find a way to get Lofton snaps and touches in 2024. Especially expect to see Lofton in short yardage, goal line and red zone opportunities for Miami. Lofton is part of several new additions for Miami that will make the Hurricanes more dynamic offensively during the 2024 season.
Lofton had 27 carries for 178 yards and 16 touchdowns with 59 receptions for 1,350 yards and another 21 scores in the last two seasons for Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas. Miami should have a lot of interesting formations during the 2024 season with the addition of Lofton to the roster.
