Two Miami Hurricanes named most impactful 'super seniors' nationally
Carter Bahns of 247Sports named Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cameron Ward and wide receiver Xavier Restrepo in his article "Dillon Gabriel, Will Howard among college football's most impactful 'super seniors' for 2024 season."
Ward has been a prominent topic of discussion during the 2024 offseason. As one of the most high-profile transfers, Ward will continue to be one of the primary focuses of college football until the season starts for Miami on August 31. Ward will have an early national spotlight with the season opener at Florida,
Entering the 2024 season, Ward leads all returnees nationally, averaging 311.1 passing yards per game in 2024. Miami moved into the Way Too Early Top 25s with the addition of Ward. The Hurricanes are 12th in the 247Sports Way Too Early top 25s. Other sites rank Miami in the high teens or low 20s.
Ward transferred to Miami for an opportunity to play on a bigger stage and improve his draft status. The NFL Mock Draft Database currently ranks Ward as the 45th-best 2025 prospect. Ward leads a group of talented transfer QBs in the ACC. Expect Ward to compete for 2024 ACC Player of the Year.
"QB CAMERON WARD, MIAMI
- Carter Bahns, 247Sports
Recruiting Class: 2020
Putting the NFL on hold for one more year was a big decision for Cameron Ward, who may instantly become the ACC’s top quarterback after transferring to Miami from Washington State. His arrival might just be what finally turns the Hurricanes around and is the primary reason why they rank well inside next season’s way-too-early top 25. Ward emerged onto the scene after a 47-touchdown sophomore year at Incarnate Word and made the leap to the FBS level in 2022. His production in essentially every category improved during his second year at college football’s highest subdivision and could peak next fall."
Xavier Restrepo is an old-school college football player entering his fifth season with the Miami Hurricanes. After sitting for most of his first two seasons and missing five games in 2022 with an injury, Restrepo had a breakout season with 85 receptions for 1,092 yards receiving and five touchdowns in 2023.

Miami’s lack of team success allowed Xavier Restrepo to fly under the radar as one of the nation’s quietest 1,000-yard receivers last season. Now, with an upgrade at quarterback, the fifth-year Hurricane has as much statistical upside as any receiver in the country. He will be the focal point of an offense that should be far more explosive than last year, and he was already highly productive with 85 total receptions — good for 18th nationally."
Restrepo was the 623rd ranked player, 36th athlete and 84th prospect in Florida in the 2020 class per the 247Sports composite rankings. Restrepo was only a three-star prospect. As a freshman in 2020, Restrepo only had one reception for 12 yards in seven games. Restrepo combined for 48 receptions for 613 yards and four TDs in 2021 and 2022.
Restrepo was one of the best WRs nationally in 2023. Pro Football Focus ranked Restrepo as the fifth-best returning WR nationally in 2024. Restrepo leads the returnees in the ACC in receptions and receiving yards in 2024. Restrepo and Ward should be the leaders on the 2024 Miami offense.
