The Miami football program added former Florida State running back Rodney Hill to its roster on Saturday without sacrificing a scholarship. Per multiple sources Hill will join Miami as a preferred walk-on. Hill had 334 rushing yards, two TDs, and five receptions for 83 yards in two seasons with FSU.

Hill was the 487th prospect, 30th RB and 49th player in Georgia from Statesboro Bulloch Academy. Miami returns leading rushers Henry Parrish and Mark Fletcher and Ajay Allen and Chris Johnson at RB from its 2023 roster. Miami also signed Jordan Lyle and Chris Wheatley-Humphrey at RB in the 2024 class.

Hill is a versatile athlete who played defensive back, RB and wide receiver in high school as well as playing basketball and running track. After entering the transfer portal in December, Hill committed to FCS Florida A&M on December 23. Hill only visited Florida State as a high school recruit.

Hill was recruited by 11 other Power Five programs in high school. After playing in just four games as a true freshman at Florida State in 2022, Hill will have three years of eligibility remaining with Miami. Hill helps add depth for 2024 and beyond. Miami will lose Parrish after the 2024 season.

Brendan Sonnone of Noles247 called Hill a playmaker when he signed with the Seminoles. Sonnone stated that Hill makes an impact as a runner, receiver and on special teams. At 5'10 and 190 pounds, Hill has good size at RB combined with good speed. Sonnone also viewed Hill with the versatility to play slot receiver.
