Expect a lot of movement on the Miami football roster when the spring transfer portal opens on Tuesday and will continue through April 30. Miami is currently five players above the roster limit. That includes 2024 signees who will arrive later this year. Several positions are worth monitoring in the portal for Miami.

Quarterback Jacurri Brown will be the biggest name to monitor on the Miami roster who could enter the transfer portal. Brown was the fourth QB who entered the Miami spring game. Starter Cam Ward and backups Reese Poffenbarger and Emory Williams entered the game before Brown. Brown denied he is transferring on Monday.

Running back is a position most expect Miami to target through the transfer portal. There is no guarantee that Mark Fletcher, Miami's returning leading rusher, will be ready for the start of the season. Henry Parrish, who led Miami in rushing in the last two seasons, is entering the transfer portal.

There has been some speculation that Miami will seek to add a starting wide receiver. Miami returns Xavier Restrepo and Jacolby George, the two leading receivers last season, but there is not much experience behind them. Isaiah Horton and true freshman JoJo Trader have reportedly been impressive this spring.

Fifth-Year-Redshirt Junior Michael Redding III is a Miami player to watch. Redding has played only 26 games over four seasons with 19 receptions for 239 yards and two touchdowns during his Miami career. Shemar Kirk, RayRay Joseph and Robby Washington are the only other returning WRs on the Miami roster.

Multiple Miami offensive linemen could enter the transfer portal. Miami could also pursue an OL in the portal. Left guard is still open as Miami enters the second half of the 2024 offseason. Chris Washington who has been with the Miami football program for four seasons has played only 15 games.

Zion Nelson who has not played since entering one game in 2022 is another player to monitor. Nelson has not recovered from 2022 off-season knee surgery. Jonathan Denis and Logan Sagopolu have not received a lot of playing time after following Miami head coach Mario Cristobal as transfers from Oregon.

Tight end is the one position that appears to be safe. Miami will not likely lose or add a TE. The Miami staff reportedly feels confident about their TE room. Elijah Arroyo is projected to have a breakout season in 2024. Arroyo slowly recovered from a serious knee injury during the 2022 season.
