The 2024 Miami football roster ranks second in the ACC based on an annual review by Steve Lassan of Athlon Sports. Lassan added where the recruited classes ranked over the last five years and then published the averages. Clemson led the ACC with an average of the eighth-best class from 2020 through 2024.
The Miami football program had an average of the 11th-best recruiting class nationally from 2020 through 2024. Mario Cristobal and his staff were solely responsible for the last two Miami classes. Cristobal was hired about two weeks before Early National Signing Day for the 2022 Class.
Cristobal was able to close strong in the 2022 class. After the 2022 Miami class was ranked in the 70s when Cristobal was hired, they finished with the 16th-ranked class. The last two full classes under Manny Diaz were 17th in 2020 and 11th in 2021. Cristobal has significantly upgraded the recruiting for Miami.
Miami has signed Top 10 classes in the first two full recruiting cycles under Cristobal. Miami signed the seventh-best 2023 class and the fourth-best 2024 class. The Hurricanes have five five-star signees in the last two classes. Miami had two five-star signees in three classes under Diaz.
"The results aren't there yet, but Miami's talent level is on the rise under coach Mario Cristobal. After signing the No. 7 class last season, the 'Canes inked the No. 4 haul for 2024."Steve Lassan, Athlon Sports
Miami has signed the top class in the ACC in the last two years. Cristobal has proven his ability to recruit with anyone nationally. Miami has won recruiting battles in the previous two cycles against most of the best programs in the country. Clemson and Miami are the only ACC teams to sign top 10 classes in the last five years.
Clemson signed the third-best class nationally in 2020, was fifth in 2021 and 10th in 2022. The Tigers had the 11th-best class in each of the last two years. The rankings are solely based on the previous five recruiting classes. Lassan did not include transfers and the 247 Sports Team Talent composite rankings do not include transfers.
Miami was 12th in the 2023 Team Talent Composite. The Hurricanes should improve when the 2024 Team Talent is released shortly before the season starts. Miami has emphasized the line of scrimmage in the last two classes. Expect Miami to make the skill positions more of a priority in 2025.
