Where is Cam Ward in ACC post spring practice QB rankings
The addition of Cam Ward at quarterback has changed the trajectory of the 2024 Miami football team. Brad Crawford of 247Sports has Ward first in his "ACC football quarterback rankings: Post-spring projections ahead of 2024 season."
Having Ward on the Miami roster contributed to the Hurricanes adding Oregon State running back Damien Martinez and Houston wide receiver Sam brown this spring. That trio is expected to elevate the Miami offense. Martinez and Ward provide Miami with balance and explosiveness offensively.
Ward is the 14th-ranked transfer overall, the fourth-best QB and number one in the Miami class. Julian Sayin at Ohio State, Aiden Chiles at Michigan State and Dante Moore at Oregon are the only three transfer QBs ranked ahead of Ward nationally. None of the three have the experience Ward has in college.
D.J. Uiagalelei who transferred from Oregon State to Florida State and Grayson McCall from Coastal Carolina to North Carolina State are second and third in Crawford's ACC QB rankings. Haynes King of Georgia Tech is the top returning ACC QB, ranking fourth. King transferred from Texas A&M in 2023.

Spring takeaway: There's a chance the former Washington State star will be the portal's most-impactful player.
Cam Ward could lead Miami to the promised land in the ACC since he's got a Howitzer for an arm and precision downfield, not to mention he now plays alongside enhanced caliber of athletes in the receiving room for the Hurricanes. Ward's a spread-friendly passer and showcased much of his talent this spring as Miami's best player on offense, we're told. Ward would've been an early-round selection in the 2024 NFL Draft had he come out, so the goal here is to solidify Day 1 billing next spring with a stellar campaign. The tools are there."
Miami plays five of the top 10 QBs in Crawford's ACC rankings. In addition to Uiagalelei and King, Miami plays Kyron Drones (fifth) of Virginia Tech, Tyler Shough (eighth) of Louisville and Kyle McCord (ninth) with Syracuse. King is the only QB in the ACC top 10 who Miami played in 2023 and will play in 2024.
The other ACC QBs Miami plays this season are Fernando Mendoza of California who is 12th, Maalik Murphy of Duke, 13th and Hank Bachmeier of Wake Forest, 16th. Murphy tranferred from Texas to play for Manny Diaz. Bachmeier transferred from Louisiana Tech after beginning his collegiate career at Boise State.

Expect Ward to be named preseason All-ACC when the voting is released this summer. Ward should challenge to be the ACC Player of the Year. How Ward performs in marque games at Louisville and versus Florida State will likely determine who the best QB in the ACC is during the 2024 season.
