Where Miami football non-conference opponents are picked in their conferences

The Miami football team will play at Florida, host Florida A&M and Ball State and at South Florida in their 2024 non-conference games.

Florida is picked 12th in the SEC, Florida A&M second in the SWAC East, Ball State fifth in the MAC West and South Florida fourth in the AAC. The Miami football team plays Florida, FAMU, Ball State and USF in non-conference this season. Miami was picked third in the ACC preseason picks released on Wednesday.

Miami opens the season on August 31 at Florida. Florida received 1,146 points in the SEC preseason poll. Kentucky was one spot ahead of Florida with 1,371 points. South Carolina was picked one spot behind Florida with 923 points. No Florida players were named first-team All-SEC.

FAMU received 104 points and six first-place votes in the SWAC voting. Alabama State earned 114 points and 11 first-place votes in the SWAC voting. Four FAMU players were picked as first-team All-SWAC. FAMU is fifth in the HBCU power rankings posted by NCAA.Com on Tuesday.

Ball State was fifth in the MAC East preseason poll with 27 points. Toledo had 11 of the 12 first-place votes and had 66 points in being picked first in the preseason poll. Ball State had no players named to the College Football News All-MAC First Teams.

South Florida was picked fourth in the AAC with 339 points. Memphis is the AAC favorite with 23 of the 30 first-place votes and 409 points. Guard Zane Herring and wide receiver Sean Atkins were named first-team All-AAC by the College Football News last month.

Miami has a diverse and somewhat challenging non-conference schedule. Miami should cruise through their home gamers versus FAMU and Ball State. The games at Florida and South Florida will be more challenging. Florida and South Florida both have talented rosters that will challenge Miami in hostile environments.

The five first-team All-ACC players are far more than any of their non-conference opponents have on their All-Conference games. Florida will be the most challenging for many reasons. Florida will have the most talented roster Miami plays in non-conference and the Gators and Hurricanes enter 2024 facing pivotal seasons.
