Where Miami football ranks in CBS Sports post-spring 2024 Top 25
The Miami football team is 17th in the CBS Sports "College football rankings: Georgia, Ohio State, Oregon lead post-spring top 25 ahead of 2024 season."Miami signed the fourth-best 2024 recruiting class and the 12th-best transfer class.
Miami is the second-highest-ranked team in ACC in the CBS Sports rankings. Clemson is ranked 14th. Other ACC teams in the CBS rankings are number 20 Florida State, 22nd SMU and 24th-ranked North Carolina State. Miami moved up five spots from 22nd in the pre-spring rankings.
Georgia is first in the rankings and Ohio State is second. Florida State is the only ranked team by CBS on the 2024 Miami football schedule. Miami does not play Clemson and SMU this season. The consensus is that the schedule is set up for Miami to be a serious competitor for an ACC Championship Game berth.
Houston transfer wide receiver Sam Brown, Martinez and Ward are a big upgrade for Miami offensively. Miami added 13 transfers to its 2024 roster. The majority of the 2024 Miami transfers should compete to earn first-team snaps this season. Brown and Martinez were part of five spring transfer additions.
"Might as well replace Miami as the subject to college football's longest-lasting question: Is [Insert team here] back? Obviously not quite yet, but the No. 6 recruiting class provides optimism. Washington State transfer QB Cam Ward opens up the offense to all kinds of possibilities, while Oregon State transfer RB Damien Martinez was a huge get. Pre-spring ranking: 22."

Miami also added Michigan State defensive tackle Simeon Barrow, Marshall cornerback Dyoni Hill and Louisville linebacker Jaylin Alderman during the spring transfer portal window. Barrow will compete with North Carolina State transfer C.J. Clark and Marley Cook from Middle Tennessee State for first-team snaps.
Alderman provides Miami with experience at LB and Hill adds needed depth at CB. Miami should be deeper and more talented throughout the roster except for safety in 2024. Replacing starters Kamren Kinchens and James Williams will still be the biggest question for Miami entering August training camp.
