Where Miami football ranks in coaches poll top 25 and among ACC teams

The Miami football team is in the top 20 of the preseason USA Today Coaches poll that was released on Monday.

The Miami football team opened the season ranked 19th in the USA Today coaches poll preseason rankings that were released on Monday. Miami received 292 points in the preseason USA Today Coaches Poll. Florida State is the only ACC in the top 10 ranked 10th, Clemson is 14th.

Miami is the third-highest ranked team in the ACC. Florida State received 867 points in the poll, Clemson 657. North Carolina State who is 22nd in the poll with 216 points is the only other ranked team in the ACC. Louisville, Virginia Tech, SMU and Syracuse were among the other teams receiving votes.

Louisville is 27th in the poll with 95 points, Virginia Tech is 28th with 64 points, SMU is 29th with 47 points and Syracuse is tied for 50th with Troy, Miami (OH), James Madison and Air Force with one point each. Oklahoma State is one spot ahead of Miami, ranked 18th with 359 points. Texas A&M is 20th, one spot behind Miami with 273 points

Georgia is first in the poll with 1,364 points and 46 first-place votes. Ohio State is second in the poll with 1,302 points and seven first-place votes. Texas ranked fourth and eighth-ranked Michigan were the only other teams to receive first-place votes in the USA Today Coaches poll.

Florida State is the only ranked team Miami is scheduled to play this year. The Seminoles come to Hard Rock Stadium on October 26. Among the ACC teams under others receiving votes, Miami hosts Virginia Tech on September 27, is at Louisville on October 19 and is at Syracuse on November 30.

The coaches poll corresponds to the ACC picks by the media. Florida State is picked first in the ACC, Clemson second, Miami second and North Carolina State fourth in the ACC media poll. Miami will begin the season on August 31 at Florida who did not receive any votes in the coaches poll.
