Miami defensive lineman Rueben Bain has 4.0 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks in two games back since getting injured in the season opener versus Florida. Bain has led Miami in snaps in each of the last two games. Pro Football Focus posted earlier this week Bain's 10 pressures versus Louisville led Power Four teams in week eight.

Bain had a breakout true freshman season in 2023 with 44 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, three forced fumbles and one pass breakup. Bain only played three snaps versus Florida before getting hurt. During the pace Bain is on during his first two games back, Bain is averaging more TFLs and sacks per game than in 2023.

Bain faces a Florida State offensive line on Saturday that is 14th in the ACC allowing 7.0 TFLs per game and 15th with opponents getting 2.86 sacks per game. Bain would be tied for 30th averaging 0.83 TFLs per game and 18th in sacks per game if he had enough games played to qualify.

In Bain's absence defensive tackle Simeon Barrow and edge rusher Tyler Barron have provided Miami with an elite defensive line. Barrow is 12th in the ACC with 7.0 TFLs and seventh with 4.5 sacks. Baron is sixth with 8.0 TFLs and tied with Barrow and Davin Vann of North Carolina State for seventh with 4.5 sacks.

Getting Bain back is critical for Miami during the second half of the season as the Hurricanes push for berths in the ACC Championship Game and College Football Playoff. Bain was the 2023 ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year and named the 2024 preseason All-ACC. Bain is one of the most feared DL and pass rushers nationally.

In April PFF named Bain the 29th overall prospect and five fifth-best edge rusher if everyone in College Football was eligible for the 2025 NFL Draft. Bain is currently first on the NFL Mock Draft Database consensus 2026 Big Board. Expect Bain to be a difference-maker for the remainder of the 2024 season.
