The Seattle Seahawks selected tight end Elijah Arroyo in the second round and quarterback Jalen Milroe in the third round of the NFL Draft.
Chosen with the 50th overall pick in the second round, Arroyo brings a blend of size, athleticism, and receiving prowess to the Seahawks. Arroyo showcased his potential during his tenure at the University of Miami, particularly in the 2024 season where he recorded 35 receptions for 590 yards and seven touchdowns.
After battling injuries in his early college years, he emerged as a reliable target for the Hurricanes in his final season, earning Second Team All-ACC honors. His ability to stretch the field and create mismatches against defenders was on display during the Senior Bowl. Unfortunately for him, another knee injury kept him out of the NFL Combine and limited him during Miami's Pro Day.
With the 92nd pick in the third round, Seattle selected Milroe from Alabama. Milroe is known for his strong arm and mobility. He is seen more as a project player and somebody who will be able to back up Sam Darnold who was recently acquired in the offseason.
General Manager John Schneider expressed enthusiasm about Milroe's potential. "He brings a dynamic skill set that can energize our offense," Schneider noted. Head Coach Mike Macdonald emphasized the importance of fostering chemistry between the new teammates. "Integrating Elijah and Jalen into our system is a priority. Their combined talents offer exciting possibilities for our offensive strategies," Macdonald stated.
As the Seahawks prepare for the upcoming season, the integration of Arroyo and Milroe will be crucial in their pursuit of success in the competitive NFC West. The Seahawks made a deal to send QB Sam Howell to the Minnesota Vikings. If Darnold is not the answer long-term, there is a world where Milroe is throwing passes to Arroyo on NFL Sundays.
