After the year he was able to post with the Miami Hurricanes, it's no surprise that Cam Ward is in contention to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. The Tennessee Titans are on the clock and the AFC South side needs a franchise signal-caller - and they need one bad.
The top two quarterbacks in the upcoming draft are no question Ward and Shedeur Sanders, Deion's son. For the next two months or so, people are going to be debating left and right as to who the Titans should go with. The one and only Stephen A. Smith decided to jump into the conversation and he made his thoughts on things pretty clear: he'd rock with Ward in this case.
Stephen A. Smith is a big Cam Ward fan leading up to the NFL Draft
We'll be the first to admit that Smith has been known for delivering pretty awful takes, but this isn't one of them. Ward is going to make an NFL team very happy in the future and he could potentially make the Titans regret not taking him if they decide to pass.
Behind the Titans, the Cleveland Browns hold the No. 2 pick, while the New York Giants hold the No. 3 spot. All three of those teams need a QB, so the Browns could be ready to pounce and grab Ward if the Titans go with Sanders instead.
In a dream world for Giants fans, Sanders goes No. 1, Travis Hunter gets picked by Cleveland next, and then Ward falls to No. 3. It's unlikely, but never say never. Smith and countless people across the country firmly believe that Ward is the best QB in this class.
His historic season for Mario Cristobal skyrocketed his draft stock, as he tossed for 4,313 yards, 39 touchdowns and only seven interceptions. Ward is the real deal and he's going to be ready to be electric in the pros starting next fall. Will he be moving to Nashville? We'll know for sure in late April.
