Walking off the field in Saturday's contest against the Louisville Cardinals was a bitter taste in defeat. The Miami Hurricanes must regroup. It was disappointing that the Canes could not overcome crucial mistakes to solidify a comeback win, despite the whole team not playing the type of game most Hurricane fans have grown accustomed to viewing.
In hindsight, it would have been a "tall order", for the Hurricanes to end the 2025 unblemished. Still, the Miami Hurricanes have unfinished business to accomplish. First, the Canes must strive to put Saturday's ACC Conference defeat behind them. Secondly, the program must develop and sustain the motivation and hunger that propelled the program on the cusp of newly acquired greatness, and lastly, the Hurricanes must approach every remaining ACC Conference opponent with a "hunter's mentality."
The Miami Hurricanes have never won the ACC Conference. This is why the Hurricanes should develop a mentality suitable for a program that has unfortunately been on the "outside looking in," regarding capturing ACC Conference supremacy. One loss and one hiccup should not alter the Canes' chances of being one of the last teams standing, by the end of the college football regular season.
It is better for the Hurricanes that they lost midway through the season, rather than the program experiencing its first defeat at a time when the team might be fighting for a conference championship, or something much greater. The question that the Miami Hurricanes are back will soon be answered. In the upcoming weeks, the Hurricanes will face other ACC teams on a mission to spoil the Canes potential of finally becoming relevant in a conference that the Hurricane football program have yet to grasp.
Critics, cynics, Hurricane brass and fans should not write the Miami Hurricanes off. The season can still be magical if the Hurricanes win all of their remaining games. The quest to obtain such a feat is in the hands of all the Miami Hurricane players and coaches, whose motivation should be to "silence the critics and naysayers," who would love to doubt if the Hurricanes are destined for an epic rise to the top of college football.
