The 7-0 start for Miami and 1-6 record for Florida State in 2024 are directly attributable to how each team has played offensively. Miami is second nationally averaging 48.3 points per game and first with 577.3 yards per game. Florida State is 132nd averaging 15.0 PPG and 276.0 yards per game.

Miami has scored at least 38 points in every game this season, topped 40 five times, 50 four times and over 60 once. Florida State is the only FBS team that has not scored more than 21 points in a game in 2024. Miami has been over 500 yards in every 2024 game. Florida State has not topped 300 yards in 2024.

Heisman Trophy contender Cam Ward leads the Miami offense that is first nationally averaging 388.4 passing yards per game. Miami wide receiver Xavier Restrepo is ninth nationally averaging 98.0 receiving yards per game. Florida State is 40th allowing 198.0 passing yards per game.

Mediocre to poor quarterback play has doomed Florida State in 2024. Florida State QB Brock Glenn had turnovers on three successive plays in a 23-16 loss versus Duke last week. That included a Duke pick-six. Florida State is 89th nationally averaging 203.1 passing yards per game.

Florida State has been one of the worst teams offensively in 2024 and Miami is arguably the best. If Florida State is going to have any chance to win on Saturday, they have to keep the score low and force turnovers. Miami is 34th nationally with only seven turnovers in 2024. Florida State is 109th with 13 turnovers.

The discrepancies between Florida State and Miami offensively in 2024 are a microcosm of their seasons. Miami is ranked sixth nationally in large part because of their offense. The 2024 Miami offense is setting program records. Miami has scored over 50 four times for the first time in program history.

Ward keeps extending his program record with seven straight games over 300 yards passing to begin the season. Ward has thrown multiple TDs in every game this season with three or more in six out of seven contests. Florida State has six TD passes the entire season. FSU has been slightly below average defensively.

While Miami has been poor defensively in its last three games, the offense has continued to be elite to keep the Hurricanes undefeated. Miami has allowed at least 34 points in three consecutive games for the fifth time in program history. The first four times Miami lost all three games. This season Miami won all three.
