Ticket prices for Miami football at Florida State are already out of this world

At these prices, some of you will be staying home.

If you want to go to Miami-FSU on October 4 and haven't gotten your ticket yet, be prepared to take out a loan on your mortgage.

As October 4th is looking more and more like a top-10 showdown (as long as FSU doesn't stumble on Friday night against Virginia), the ticket prices are climbing higher and higher. A month ago, you could probably get two seats with good sight lines for probably $150-250 dollars. Now, those prices have increased by at least 100%.

FSU decided to begin renovations on Doak Campbell Stadium to "enhance the fan experience" after those poor saps sat through a 2-10 season. Part of that renovation cut the available seating from 79,560 to 67,277. It seemed like the right time to do this because the fewer people that saw the disaster that was happening under Mike Norvell's watch, the better.

But something happened and FSU might actually be good. The Seminoles certainly looked the part in beating Alabama, and then they faced mighty East Texas A&M (ranked 262nd among football programs, all divisions according to the Laz Index) and Kent State (ranked 197th) and beat the tar out of those two powerhouses to vault into the Top 10. Now everyone wants to get into Tallahassee on the first Saturday ofd October.

The Hurricanes are on a bye and preparing for their upcoming ACC opener. Meanwhile, Florida State fans that probably sold their tickets in mid-August are wondering what they can do to get to the game and not sacrifice next month's rent in the process.

With reduced seating at Doak Campbell Stadium and the Seminoles looking more like 1994 than 2024, the demand was going to outweigh the supply. Add the possibility of ESPN College GameDay being there and this becomes a must-see for any college football fan.

So, if you haven't gotten tickets yet, you either need to get very lucky or cash in on some of those stock options. Otherwise, you'll be watching on TV like the other millions...and millions of fans.

That is unless FSU runs into a roadblock on Friday against Virginia.
