Tim Tebow shows passionate support for Miami QB Carson Beck, despite all the haters

This Jacksonville connection between Tim Tebow and Carson Beck seems to be unbreakable.

Carson Beck is not for everyone, but he is perfect for what the Miami Hurricanes need to potentially run this College Football Playoff gauntlet. Although he did not play his best football in his first-ever playoff start last week, Beck did guide Miami to an upset road victory over the Texas A&M Aggies in the No. 7 vs. No. 10 game. Beck played within himself amid some challenging weather conditions, too.

In the lead-up to that game, ESPN's Tim Tebow spoke glowingly about his fellow Jacksonville native.

"I've seen him play for a long time. I've seen pretty much every play he has ever played in college. He's also from Jacksonville, played at Mandarin High School. Super talented player. I've seen him play as a top-10 pick ... When he plays his best, he can torch defenses."

While his ESPN colleague Booger McFarland later crucified him, Tebow is still riding high with Beck.

While pushing all one's chips into the center of the table on the "He's a winner!" mantra is never for the faint of heart, Beck's greatest strength as a star college quarterback is finding ways to come out on top when he is not playing his best football. The only times he really gets into trouble is when he turns the football over at will. He protected the ball vs. Texas A&M, and beat the Aggies because of it.

Unfortunately, he will have to do more than protect the football to beat Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl.

Tim Tebow's high praise of Miami QB Carson Beck is nothing to scoff at

The biggest thing that seemed to be coming across in Tebow's infinite praise of Beck was that the guy has seen everything under center in a college football uniform before. We are talking about a sixth-year senior, one who has started for three seasons at two Power Four powers in Miami this year, and at Georgia in the previous two. Beck's ability to recognize what is coming pre-snap is a huge plus.

Truth be told, Beck does tend to unravel all of that within the context of a play every so often. He will lock in on a wide receiver and try to force him the ball, even if there is another better option out there. Never fading in confidence, Beck operates under the next play mentality. It is what makes him so dangerous as a quarterback at this point of the playoff. Nothing fazes him. Should Ohio State worry?

At this point in time, Ohio State is still trying to figure out what went wrong in Indianapolis vs. Indiana a few weeks ago. Indiana is not as talented as the Buckeyes or Miami, but they were able to win their conference title bout because they are one of the most well-coached teams in football. Miami is well-coached too, but the Canes need to play their most locked-in game mentally to be able to advance.

For now, Beck will have the ability to throw a wrench into the Buckeyes' grandiose plans of repeating.
