Tennessee Titans head coach Brian Callahan discussed Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward with beat writer Jim Wyatt on the team's official website recently. Callahan likes Ward's throwing motion, his different arm angles, his mobility and creativity and the throws he has put on tape.

Ward was also praised by Callahan for his ability to do some unique things. The NFL Mock Draft Database ranks Ward No. 1 overall on its big board. That would mean unless Tennessee trades the pick, Ward very well could be headed to Nashville.

Will Levis, who was a second-round pick by Tennessee in 2023, is currently listed as the Titans' starting QB, with veteran Mason Rudolph as his backup. Tennessee would be a great situation for Ward. If Tennessee drafts Ward, he would have an opportunity to compete to be a starter immediately as a rookie.

Tennessee tied the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants for the worst record in the NFL in 2025 at 3-14. The Titans finished 26th in passing yards, 16th in passing touchdowns, 31st in interceptions thrown and 25th in net yards per pass attempt in 2024. Ward's mobility and ability to improvise should help any pass offense.

Titans HC Brian Callahan knows Miami Hurricanes QB Cam Ward is an elite talent

"He does some really cool stuff...He has a really loose throwing motion, and I mean that in the best way. He can spin the ball well. He has all the different arm angles. He has the ability to move and create. He's put some really impressive throws on tape.

Without knowing the person at all, just from what I've seen in a limited viewing, is he's incredibly talented. I think you see him do some things that are very unique with his ability to throw the ball."

Pro Football Focus, which projects Ward to be drafted by Cleveland with the second pick, gave Ward a 91.7 passing grade in 2024. That led all QBs in the Football Bowl Subdivision. Ward significantly improved his numbers from Washington State in 2023 to his performance with Miami in 2024.

Ward completed 66.6 percent of his pass attempts for 3,736 yards, 25 touchdowns, and seven interceptions while leading the nation with seven fumbles lost in 2023 at Washington State. In 2024 with Miami, Ward completed 67.2 percent of his passes for 4,313 yards, 39 TDs and seven interceptions with only three lost fumbles.

Ward also set career highs averaging 9.5 yards per attempt, 10.52 adjusted yards per attempt and 14.1 yards per completion on his way to finishing fourth in the Heisman Trophy voting, being named a consensus All-American, First-Team All-ACC selection and the Conference Player of the Year.

Ward's 2024 season will be remembered as the best ever by a Miami QB. Ward set the Miami single-season program records with 4,313 passing yards, 4.517 total yards, 39 TD passes and 43 TDs responsible for. The bar at QB was raised high by Ward, as he projects to be the highest-drafted Miami player since 1991.
