Former Miami star and No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward found himself in the middle of a brief dust-up at Tennessee Titans training camp Monday, exchanging shoves with All-Pro defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons after throwing a late-practice touchdown to Calvin Ridley. Ward celebrated with his trademark “Zombieland” move near Simmons, who responded with a two-hand push to the rookie’s facemask before teammates stepped in. Practice ended a few players later.

Left tackle Dan Moore Jr. said the offensive line won’t let anyone lay hands on the quarterback and Titans coach Brian Callahan had the team run after practice. Simmons later posted on X clearing up the situation and calling it typical football behavior that got amplified.

"But y’all letting these reporters blow up something that happened at practice says a lot! Trust me, me and 1 is good!"

At Miami, Ward threw for 4,313 yards and 39 touchdowns on 67.2% passing in 2024. His college resume — along with his leadership during his final college season— should show why the rookie quarterback won't back down under any circumstance. Simmons, in his own right, is a seventh-year anchor that has three Pro Bowls and two second-team All-Pro nods.

"You get that same attitude, confidence, that same edge every day out of those two guys. That's what you expect. But when it does happen with the quarterback, you got to break it up as soon as possible. But brothers fight."
CB Jarvis Brownlee Jr.

Cornerback Brownlee's comments make sense as any time there is a QB involved in an altercation the fanbase tends to clutch its pearls. While it's a unique sight to see and will boost respect for Ward, it's is all about the health of the QB1. For the Titans, with both Ward and Simmons not suffering any injury, it looks to just be a footnote in fall training camp.
