Tommy Castellanos is getting an NFL opportunity, but not at the position that he played in college. The former Florida State quarterback has accepted an invitation to the Tennessee Titans' rookie minicamp as a wide receiver and also plans to attend the Miami Dolphins' rookie minicamp at the same position.

Former FSU QB Tommy Castellanos gets Dolphins, Titans minicamp looks at wide receiver
The position switch makes sense because Castellanos' best trait was always his movement ability. He was a dynamic runner at Boston College and Florida State, even when the passing came and went.
Castellanos finished the 2025 season at Florida State with 2,760 passing yards, 15 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He also led the Seminoles with 557 rushing yards and nine rushing touchdowns during a 5-7 season.
Before his lone season at Florida State, Castellanos was one of the most productive dual-threat quarterbacks in the country at Boston College. In 2023, he passed for 2,248 yards and 15 touchdowns while rushing for 1,113 yards and 13 touchdowns.
That is the version of Castellanos NFL teams are probably trying to tap into. Teams can put him through receiver drills, see how naturally he catches the ball, test his special teams value and decide whether he is worth a roster spot.
Tennessee is an interesting first stop because he'll be catching passes from former Miami QB Cam Ward. It brings an odd NFL reunion between FSU and Miami alums. And the Titans have also clearly made wide receiver a major priority, so maybe there's a chance he stays longer.
Castellanos will also be in Miami for the Dolphins' rookie mini camp.
The Dolphins have also made wide receiver a high priority position. The Dolphins selected Texas Tech wide receiver Caleb Douglas in the third round, Louisville wide receiver Chris Bell later in the third round and Missouri wide receiver Kevin Coleman Jr. in the fifth round. They also added Ohio State tight end Will Kacmarek and Mississippi State tight end Seydou Traore.
It's a long shot, but this is exactly why rookie minicamps exist. Castellanos went undrafted as a quarterback and rather than waiting for a team to view him the same way, he is trying to create a different path into the league.
