Miami's offseason just got tougher. Guard Tru Washington plans to enter the transfer portal, a move that would take one of Jai Lucas' most reliable perimeter players off a roster already losing major senior production.
Washington averaged 11.9 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 27.5 minutes per game this past season (also had a team-best 1.8 steals per game).

Miami guard Tru Washington plans to enter the transfer portal
Washington only spent one season in Coral Gables after two at New Mexico.
Miami had stars this season and Washington was not quite that. But, he was one of the players who helped the main core when he came off the bench.
He scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds against Elon in November, which was his top scoring game of the season. He followed that with 17-point efforts against Georgetown, Mississippi in the ACC-SEC Challenge and Louisville in the ACC quarterfinals. In Miami's NCAA tournament win over Missouri, he scored nine points, and had six rebounds and three assists.
He had 15 points at SMU in a late road win, 14 against Boston College, 15 at Virginia, 11 with seven rebounds at Florida State, and 11 points with four assists in the season-ending loss to Purdue.
Miami will need to reload in the offseason
The Hurricanes are already losing Tre Donaldson, Malik Reneau and Ernest Udeh Jr., all of whom are seniors. Donaldson led Miami in assists at 5.7 per game. Reneau led the team in scoring at 18.9 points per game. Udeh led the team in rebounding at 9.2 and blocks at 1.4.
- Gone or expected to be gone: Tre Donaldson, Malik Reneau, Ernest Udeh Jr., and now Tru Washington heading to the portal.
- Confirmed back: Dante Allen will return next season.
- Best returning: Shelton Henderson, who averaged 13.8 points and 4.9 rebounds as a freshman.
