Tyler Baron finished in the top 10 among edge-rushers at the NFL Combine in the 40-yard dash, 10-yard split, and broad and vertical jumps, which were the only events he competed in. Baron did not participate in the three-cone or shuttle drills on Thursday.
The question will be how much Baron helped his NFL Draft stock with his performance at the Combine on Thursday. Baron is currently projected as the 165th pick overall in the sixth round in 2025 by the NFL Mock Draft database. After playing his first four seasons at Tennessee, Baron transferred to Miami for the 2024 season.
Baron had a tale of two seasons for Miami in 2024. In his one season with Miami, Baron recorded 38 tackles, 11.0 TFLs, 5.5 sacks and 1.0 fumble recovery. Baron had 38 tackles, 11.0 TFLs, 5.5 sacks and 1.0 fumble recovery in five games for Miami versus non-conference opponents in 2024.
Against ACC opponents, Baron had 24.0 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and 1.0 fumble recovery during the 2024 season. Consistency could be an issue that comes up during the evaluation process for NFL scouts. Baron was very durable during his collegiate career playing in 61 games over five seasons and never less than 10 in one year.
Tyler Baron is a DE prospect in the 2025 draft class. He scored an unofficial 9.77 #RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 42 out of 1802 DE from 1987 to 2025.

Miami star Tyler Baron impressed at the NFL Combine
Drill | Performance | Place |
---|---|---|
40 yard dash | 4.62 seconds | Sixth |
10 yard split | 1.61 seconds | Fifth |
Vertical | 35.5 inches | Eighth |
Broad jump | 10.1 Feet | Eighth |
Baron has a lot of potential based on his NFL Combine performance and RAS number above. The 2023 and 2024 seasons were the most productive in Baron's career. The scouting report from Lance Zierlein of NFL.com states, "Fifth-year senior with the size and athleticism for consideration as an edge defender in odd or even fronts."
Zierlein questioned Baron's speed, but praised his versatility to play inside or outside. When projecting Baron's future, Zierlein said his "ceiling could be tied to his ability to become a more consistently disruptive force." The future for Baron like most middle-round NFL Draft picks could be tied to the team and system he is drafted into.
