Where Miami finished in final College Football Playoff rankings and national polls
Miami finished 13th in the final College Football Playoff rankings released on Sunday. The Hurricanes finished 15th in the Associated Press Top 25 and 16th in the US LBM Coaches Poll. Miami dropped one spot in the AP Top 25 and two in the US LBM Coaches poll following championship weekend.
Clemson moved up five spots in the AP Top 25, passing BYU, Iowa State, Mississippi, Miami, and South Carolina. Miami fell one spot in the College Football Playoff rankings. Clemson passed BYU, Mississippi, Miami and South Carolina in the US LBM coaches poll to move up to 13th.
SMU finished 11th in the final College Football Playoff rankings to give the Atlantic Coast Conference two teams in the field. Penn State hosts SMU at Noon Eastern Time and Clemson received the 12th seed and plays at Texas at 4 PM ET with both games on Saturday, December 21.
Miami received 697 points in the final AP Top 25. South Carolina finished 14th, one spot ahead of Miami with 770 points. Mississippi is 16th in the final APb Top 25 with 680 points. Oregon finished 13-0 after winning the Big 10 Championship over Penn State and remained the top-ranked team nationally.
Miami received 611 points in the US LMB Coaches Poll. Mississippi is 15th with 631 points and BYU is 17th with 423 points. The College Football Playoff committee valued Miami more than the media and coaches polls. Following the CFP brackets Miami is awaiting its bowl game.
The prevailing projections have had Miami playing LSU in the Gator Bowl in Jacksonville or Iowa State in the Pop Tarts Bowl in Orlando. Many Miami fans and football alum Deon Bush have pushed for the Hurricanes to play Alabama in their bowl game. Others on social media want Colorado versus Miami in a bowl game.
