Andy Staples of On3 ranks Carson Beck third in the ACC quarterback rankings he published on Wednesday. Cade Klubnik of Clemson is first and Tulane transfer Darian Mensah, now with Duke, is third. Beck being ranked behind Klubnik was expected, but Mensah ahead of him is debatable.
Beck is first in the On3 transfer portal rankings and Mensah is 32nd. Mensah is the sixth-best 2025 transfer QB as ranked by On3. Beck was the starting QB for Georgia the last two seasons. Mensah has one season of experience as the starting QB for Tulane.
Tulane finished 9-4 in 2024 in their first season under head coach Jon Sumrall with Mensah running the offense. Mensah completed 65.9 percent of his passes for 2,723 yards, 22 touchdowns and six interceptions with 132 rushing yards and another score.
Beck has completed 68.0 percent of his passes for 7.912 yards 58 TDs and 20 interceptions and 235 rushing yards and another five scores while leading Georgia to a 24-3 record as a starter. Klubnik has completed 63.4 percent of his passes for 7,180 yards, 57 TDs and 18 INTs with 784 rushing yards and another 13 scores.
"3. Carson Beck, MiamiAndy Staples, On3
As Georgia’s QB, Beck dealt with massive expectations and faced elite competition. He looked incredible when he had Brock Bowers and Ladd McConkey running routes in 2023, less so without those stars in 2024. Now, he’s coming off an ugly elbow injury and joining a team that surged offensively with Ward at QB.
Miami is breaking in a new group of receivers, but this is a talented group. The offensive line should be excellent. Beck should have all the help he needs to bounce back from the injury."
Georgia led the nation with 36 dropped passes in 2024. The biggest questions surrounding Beck and Miami entering the 2025 season will be his recovery from his ulnar collateral ligament (elbow) injury and how well Miami replaces losing its top six receivers from 2024.
Wide receiver JoJo Trader returns after recording three receptions for 61 yards and a TD in the Pop-Tarts Bowl versus Iowa State. Miami added transfer WRs C.J. Daniels from LSU, Tony Johnson from Cincinnati and Keelan Marion from BYU to provide Beck with experienced players to throw to in 2025.
Beck will lead a Miami offense that was first nationally in 2024, averaging 43.9 points per game and 537.2 yards per game and third, posting 348.2 passing yards per game. Expect Miami to lean more on the run in 2025 with Mark Fletcher Jr. and Jordan Lyle returning at running back and the addition of North Dakota State transfer CharMar Brown.
Miami has an experienced offensive line with six players starting at some point during their careers. If Beck can avoid interceptions that plagued him during the middle of the 2024 season and the receivers perform as expected, Miami should continue to thrive offensively.
