Miami is sixth overall and second in the ACC in Pro Football Focus "College Football: The top-10 quarterback rooms entering the 2025 season." Miami significantly upgraded its QB room entering the 2025 season with the addition of Carson Beck as a transfer from Georgia.
Without Beck, Miami had very limited experience returning at QB. Heisman Trophy finalist Cam Ward showed what Miami is capable of offensively under coordinator Shannon Dawson. Miami was first nationally in 2024, averaging 43.9 points per game and 537.2 yards per game and third, posting 348.2 passing YPG.
Beck transferred to Miami after an inconsistent season in 2024. Dawson helped Ward become the first pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Beck is among the top QB prospects in the 2026 NFL Draft. Beck is currently listed as the 58th overall prospect by the NFL Mock Draft Database. That projects Beck late in the second round.
Beck will be tested early in his Miami tenure. Miami opens the season versus Notre Dame on August 31, Florida on September 20 and is at Florida State on October 4. Beck has completed 66.3 percent of his passes for 827 yards, six touchdowns and three interceptions as Georgia averaged 46.7 PPG and went 3-0 versus Florida.

While he certainly didn’t live up to expectations last year, Carson Beck is still one of the top returning quarterbacks in the sport. The Georgia transfer still earned an 80.2 passing grade last season and his 90.9 overall grade since 2023 is the second-best among returning FBS signal-callers.
Redshirt sophomore Emory Williams enters his third year as Miami’s backup and has a solid 71.3 career grade on 246 snaps. The Hurricanes also welcome in freshman Luke Nickel, a top-15 quarterback recruit from the 2025 class. "
Beck completed 64.7 percent of his passes for 3,485 yards, 28 touchdowns and 12 interceptions with 71 rushing yards and another score in 2024. In 2023, Beck completed 72.4 percent of his pass attempts for 3,941 yards, 24 TDs and six interceptions, with 116 rushing yards and four scores.
In addition to Nickel and Williams, as Chadwick mentions, Miami returns Judd Anderson, who redshirted as a true freshman in 2024. Expect Anderson and Nickel to compete to be the Miami third-team QB in 2025 behind Beck and Williams. If Beck stays healthy, he should take the majority of the snaps for Miami in 2025.
Williams played in two games last season as he redshirted. Against Ball State, Williams completed 11 passes in 12 attempts for 161 yards and one TD. Williams completed five passes in 14 attempts for 26 yards with no TDs and one interception as Miami lost 42-41 to Iowa State in the Pop-Tarts Bowl.
