No. 7 Miami will open the season in its all-white road look Friday night at Stanford, the combination known around the program as the "Stormtrooper" uniforms.

Kickoff is Friday and Miami is a 24.5-point favorite over the 1-0 Cardinal.

Miami goes with all-white uniforms to open the season

The Hurricanes will wear white helmets, white jerseys, white pants, white socks and black cleats when they kick off at 9 p.m. ET at Stanford Stadium. The game will be televised on ESPN.

Stanford is the home team and is expected to wear dark jerseys, so Miami was always going to be in white tops. The only choice was the pants, and the staff decided to stay with the all-white set that fans have associated with last season's College Football Playoff run.

Miami was 5-1 last season in that combination and the Hurricanes also wore all white through the playoff, including against Ole Miss, Texas A&M and Ohio State, and again in the title game. In their previous 10 games in all white, they are 7-3.

When Stanford came to Hard Rock Stadium last year, Miami stepped away from orange and white and rolled out its camouflage "Honor and Support" uniforms. The Hurricanes wore black helmets with a camo "U," green camouflage jerseys with black lettering and American-flag details on the shoulders, and army-green pants.

Last names on the back were replaced with "HURRICANES" and Miami won that night 42-7. Those jerseys were easily one of the most unique looks for the Miami program in recent memory. The next salute to service game will be against Virginia Tech on Nov. 21.

Some fans may have wanted to see the green jerseys or orange pants, but the green tops are typically reserved for home ACC games, and orange pants will be saved for another occasion.
