The weekend has been filled with nothing but good news for Miami and Mario Cristobal. The Hurricanes have landed two new transfer commits in defensive back Omar Thornton and wide receiver Vandrevius Jacobs. We don't have to tell you that all eyes are now on Sam Leavitt.

Miami football lands transfer DB and fans are hoping Sam Leavitt is next

The 5-star signal-caller is leaving Arizona State, with LSU, Tennessee and Miami looking to land him. Well, a surprise twist to the story has come in, with the Tigers and Lane Kiffin bringing in former 5-star USC quarterback Husan Longstreet for a visit. Do we really think LSU would be doing that if Kiffin was confident that Leavitt would sign with the SEC side? No chance.

Tennessee has also been in the hunt to grab Leavitt, as the stud QB made his way to Knoxville earlier this week for an official visit. Funny enough, Kiffin flew to Knoxville to meet with Leavitt, but the elite QB transfer didn't give him the news he was hoping for.

However, with Kiffin bringing in Longstreet, it has plenty of people convinced that Kiffin is throwing in the towel and he's ready to seriously go after other QBs on his board. With Tennessee expected to host Beau Pribula for a visit as well, maybe Josh Heupel is thinking of doing the same.

With Leavitt currently in town for his Miami visit, plenty of signs are pointing to the Canes and Cristobal being in the lead here. Obviously, nothing will be finalized until Leavitt announces where he's heading next, but even more optimism has arrived for the Miami faithful.

The Hurricanes are one win away from taking home the CFP title trophy, but Cristobal also hasn't forgotten about building the roster for the future too. Already, some exciting transfer pledges have arrived, but Mario and Co. are just getting started. Adding Leavitt to the list will only make things even sweeter for The U.
