Sam Leavitt is the top remaining quarterback available in the transfer portal and if the former Arizona State signal caller makes it out of Tennessee tonight, he's scheduled to be in Miami tomorrow.
Leavitt, who will be heading into his redshirt junior season, was linked to the Hurricanes when he announced he would be leaving the Sun Devils. Since then, he's also been linked to Texas Tech and LSU. The Red Raiders took themselves out of the race when they signed Brendan Sorsby and Leavitt visited LSU and left without a deal. Currently, Leavitt is on a visit to Tennessee, which he extended for an additional day.

The race for Leavitt appears as open as ever. LSU seemed to have the inside track for a while, but the Tigers are now trending for Demond Williams Jr., who had a standout season at Washington last week and is another player that has previously been linked with Miami.
All transfer portal business will have to wait until the weekend
The last thing on the minds of the Miami Hurricanes and Hurricane fans today is the transfer portal or the construction of the 2026 roster. But after tonight's Fiesta Bowl, business will continue as usual for Mario Cristobal and staff, which means that they will be bringing in visitors and doing work on next year's roster.
That means we should expect a host of commitments to be announced over the weekend. Beyond the need for a quarterback, the Hurricanes will be looking to add at a few positions. They are already trending for former South Carolina wide receiver Vandrevius Jacobs and Boston College safety Omar Thornton.
Miami is expected to look for some additional help on the defensive line and linebackers, so that could be a focus of their visitor schedule this weekend. The transfer portal window opened on January 2 and will close at the end of the day on January 16. Miami has had eight players from the current roster enter the portal.
