2 key Miami players out and 1 a game time decision at Pittsburgh

Miami will without two key players and a third is a game time decision at Pittsburgh on Saturday.

Miami will be without defensive back Keionte Scott and wide receiver Tony Johnson and defensive tackle David Blay is a game-time decision on the ACC Student-Athlete Availability Reporting update for the game at Pittsburgh on Saturday.

Johnson is out for the fourth consecutive game and Scott will miss his second straight contest. The injury to Johnson and Scott has not been disclosed. Scott is expected to be out for the remainder of the 2025 season with a foot injury.

Blay could miss his third consecutive game for Miami. Blay has been a productive player for Miami in 2025 with 25 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and one pass defended. Armondo Blount and Justin Scott have received most of the snaps at DT with Blay out.

Jakobe Thomas is expected to be at full health after leaving the win at Virginia Tech last week. Ethan O'Connor has emerged at CB and true freshman Bryce Fitzgerald has emerged at safety with Scott out. O.J. Frederique appears ready to return for Miami at CB as he is not on the game-day injured list.

Key players out for Pittsburgh are starting offensive lineman Keith Gouveia and reserve linebacker Nick Lapi. Sean FitzSimmons, a co-starting DT for Pittsburgh, is a game-time decision for the Panthers on Saturday.

Gouveia started the first four games for Pittsburgh at left guard in 2025. Ryan Carretta, who was listed on the Gameday Student-Athlete Availability Reporting update throughout the week, will start for Pittsburgh at LF for the seventh time in the last eight games.

Lapi has contributed 14 tackles and 1.5 TFLs for Pittsburgh in 2025. FitzSimmons has 20 tackles, 2.0 TFLs and 1.0 sack in 2025. Nick James is the co-starting DT with FitzSimmons. James has 19 tackles, 5.5 TFLs and 2.0 sacks in 2025.

Miami at Pittsburgh will kick off on ESPN at noon. Bob Wischusen will call play-by-play, Louis Riddick is the analyst and Kris Budden is the sideline reporter. Miami is a 6.5-point favorite over Pittsburgh on Saturday per the Sportsbook and the over/under is 49.5.
