At this point, is there anything that Malachi Toney can't do on a football field? The true freshman wide receiver, who should be a senior in high school this year, had another big game to help the Miami Hurricanes beat Ole Miss 31-27 and reach the college football national championship for the first time since the 2002 season.

Toney finished with five catches for 81 yards and also had two carries for 11 yards. But that doesn't begin to explain the impact that Toney had on Thursday's Fiesta Bowl. He put the Hurricanes ahead 24-19 with a 35-yard catch and run off a middle screen where he showed exceptional balance to break tackles and then showed the breakaway speed to get in the end zone.

When Toney wasn't catching passes, he was occupying all the attention in the Ole Miss secondary, which allowed Keelan Marion to have one of his best games of the season with seven catches for 114 yards and a 52-yard touchdown.

And one thing that Toney did won't show up on the stat sheet, but his willingness to block in the run game has been one of his greatest team-first traits all season. It's rare to find a player as young and talented as Toney who is so willing to do the dirty work. His blocking helped Mark Fletcher (22 carries, 133 yards) extend a few runs.

Tough running leads to early touchdown

Toney has never been one to shy away from the contact or the tough plays. In the first half he showed his physical style of play by breaking tackles and fighting for a first down on a 3rd and 7 in the red zone, His efforts set up Miami's first touchdown of the game.

Despite being forced to miss a few plays in the first half for a hit to the head that wasn't called targeting, Toney was on the field when the Hurricanes needed him, and he's a big reason why they will be playing for a championship in ten days.
