Miami Hurricanes Football: Four ‘Canes Recruits in Under Armour All-America Game on Saturday

On Saturday, January 2, 2016, the Under Armour All-America Game will be held in Orlando, FL  (Orlando Citrus Bowl) and four Miami Hurricanes commits will star in it.

It could become a showcase of what Miami’s offense could look like in the near future. Stud quarterback Jack Allison playing alongside beast wide receivers, Sam Bruce and Dionte Mullins. And on the defensive side, big defensive end Patrick Bethel will represent The U and will hopefully be wreaking havoc all game long. I can see newly appointed head coach Mark Richt salivating now.

All four players come highly recruited and three out of the four are from the South Florida area (Bethel’s Vero Beach is a little more central). If they remain committed up until signing day, they could likely become impactful players for the ‘Canes, holding up its legacy as both “Quarterback U” and “Wide Receiver U,” while Bethel adds nice depth to a young defensive line.

More from Miami Football Recruiting

Allison is out of Palmetto High School (Palmetto, Fl) and is a 4-star, pocket-passing quarterback committed to Miami over Alabama, Tennessee, Missouri and South Florida. He’s currently listed at 6’5″ and 195 pounds.

Allison is pretty much a lock for Miami as he had already signed his Grant-In-Aid Agreement about 5 months ago. He has the opportunity to become another great Hurricanes quarterback behind Brad Kaaya.

Bruce hails from powerhouse St. Thomas Aquinas High School (Ft. Lauderdale, Fl) and he was a major factor in their ninth consecutive State Championship.

Bruce has been strongly committed to Miami (and made it known on social media), but had visited Ohio State and still plans on visiting Florida and South Carolina. Though I feel like he’ll remain committed to The U, questions may arise if Richt decides to part ways with wide receiver’s coach Kevin Beard (which is very likely).  Listed at only 5’8″ and 183 pounds, Bruce had committed to Miami over offers to powerhouse programs such as: Alabama, USC, Ohio State, Florida, Florida State, Clemson, Notre Dame, Oregon and Auburn.

Mullins is another highly recruited, 4-star wide receiver and is listed at 5’11” and 179 pounds. He played his high school ball at Gulliver Prep High School (Miami, Fl). Mullins committed to Miami back in July of 2014 with big time offers from schools like: Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Clemson, Georgia, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, South Carolina and Tennessee.

Though more major changes are likely to come at Miami, I feel like Mullins will too remain committed as he’ll get to play alongside former Gulliver Prep teammates and also ‘Canes commits, DE Joseph Jackson and S Cedrick Wright.

Bethel, out of Vero Beach Senior High School (Vero Beach, Fl) is ranked a 4-star by ESPN and a 3-star by Rivals. He’s a force on the defensive line and committed to Miami over schools such as: ‘Bama, Florida, Tennessee, Notre Dame, Penn State, Florida State, Georgia and LSU. Bethel is currently listed at 6’3″ and 245 pounds.

Besides the numerous college studs, many current NFL players (including Pro Bowl selectees) had played in the Under Armour All-America Game, which showcases some of the top talent coming out of high school. Players like Julio Jones, Amari Cooper, A.J. Green, Alshon Jeffery, Jarvis Landry, Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, Alec Ogletree, Jameis Winston and Jadeveon Clowney had once stepped foot in this event. In fact, it has produced 94 NFL draft picks (23 first-rounders), 4 NFL Pro-Bowlers, 2 Super Bowl Champions and 1 Heisman Trophy Winner.
