Jim Otto C Inducted in 1980

Jim Otto played collegiately at the University of Miami from 1957-59. Following his playing career, Otto joined the Oakland Raiders for their inaugural season in 1960. He was the last original Raider when he retired in 1974.

Otto spent his entire 15-year career with the Raiders. Otto started in 210 consecutive games. That currently ranks ninth in NFL history. Former Hurricanes Punter Jeff Feagles holds the consecutive games played streak in 363 games played.

Otto excellence is as impressive as his longevity. He is a member of the AFL’s all-time team, a member of the All-1960’s team and a ten-time first-teamAll-Pro.

Otto played in the second Super Bowl as a part of the Raiders AFL Champions. The Raiders played in three straight AFL Championship games from 1967-69. After winning the 1967 AFL Championship the Raiders lost to the New York Jets in 1968 and the Kansas City Chiefs in 1969.

Otto’s longevity was even more impressive considering he only missed a handful of minutes during his 15-year career.

He notoriously has paid tremendously for putting his body on the line. He had 74 surgeries including 28 on his knees. In 2007 Otto had to have his leg amputated.
