The Miami Herald reported that Dallas and Thomas are most likely to handle punt return duties in 2018. Richt spoke about the difference between handling them in the spring and fall.

"“[They’re doing] mostly really good…but it’s not really real until it’s real. … Until you get in the game and there’s a lot of people in the stands and here comes the ball and all these guys are ready to knock you around a little bit, that’s when you’ll really realize how well they can make decisions and make catches under pressure”"

The Herald also reported that Richt said that the Hurricanes will likely only work on special teams in drills until the remainder of the Freshman class enrolls this summer.

There are numerous explosive players on the Miami roster who should be able to help in the return game this fall. Although Berrios was exceptional on punt returns last season, many in the fanbase were disappointed that he had so many fair catches last season. He never returned more than two punts in any game.

The kick return game ranked in the middle of the pack in the ACC. Miami did not have either a punt or kickoff return for a touchdown last season. They need more production from the return game this fall to take some pressure off the offense and give them a shorter field.
