Where does the Miami Hurricanes Non-Conference schedule rank in ACC
"Week 2 – Sept. 8 vs. Savannah State (Miami Gardens, Fla.) “After their challenging opening game, the Hurricanes will have their home opener against FCS opponent Savannah State. This is an excellent game to have right before the Hurricanes travel to face a quality non-Power 5 opponent.”"
Miami will only have five days in between the opener and week two against FCS Savannah State. When the teams last played in 2013, Miami set a school record for points scored in a 77-7 victory. The Hurricanes had all of their points by the end of the third quarter.
You have to go back to 2013 when Miami opened the season with consecutive games against FBS Teams. They have played at least one FCS team in every season since 2008. Their non-conference games in 2007 were against Marshall, Oklahoma, FIU and Texas A&M. It’s time for the FBS to end games against FCS Teams.

"Week 3 – Sept. 15 at Toledo (Toledo, Ohio) “Last year, the Hurricanes trailed the Rockets 16-10 at halftime at Hard Rock Stadium before ultimately winning the game 52-30. Although quarterback Logan Woodside is no longer in the program, Toledo will return many key players from the team that went 11-3 and won the MAC championship last year.”"
Miami scored 14 points in the third quarter to take the lead and 28 in the fourth to put the game away. Mark Walton ran for 204 yards and a touchdown. That tied the sixth highest total in school history.
Logan Woodside threw for 304 yards and three touchdowns for the Rockets. Neither Walton or Woodside will be back this season. Redshirt Junior Mitchell Guadagni is the projected starter.
Jason Candle has done an exceptional job in his two seasons plus as the Toledo Coach. He is 21-7 since taking over for taking over for Matt Campbell who left for Iowa State before the Rockets 2015 bowl game.
Toledo went 11-3 last season. That was their most wins since 1995. They also won their first MAC Championship since 2004. They fell flat in the Dollar General Bowl losing to Appalachian State 34-0. Miami won at App State 45-10 in 2016.
