History of Miami baseball alums under Jim Morris in MLB All-Star Game
Danny Graves 2000 and 2004
Graves was the first Miami baseball player under Morris to be named to an All-Star team. Representing the Cincinnati Reds, Graves pitched one inning, allowing a hit and a strikeout in the 2000 game. He was named to the team in 2004 but did not pitch.
Graves was an All-American at Miami in 1994. He left Coral Gables in the top ten in several categories. Graves 21 Saves in 1994 remain a program record.
Chris Perez 2011 and 2012
Perez pitched one inning in the 2011 All-Star game. He gave up a two-out double to St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina.
Perez got 2018 All-Star starter Matt Kemp to fly out to right to begin the sixth inning. He struck out Reds first baseman Joey Votto for the second out. After Molina’s double, Justin Upton flew out to right to end the inning.
Perez did not pitch in his second all-star appearance in 2012. He was unable to get into an 8-0 American League loss to the National League. Perez pitched one more season for the Indians before joining the Dodgers for the 2014 season. That was his last year in the Majors.
