  • Alonso hit 20 home runs, had 43 RBIs and a .275 batting average during the first half in 2017 as the Oakland A’s first baseman.

The A’s traded him to the Seattle Mariners in August for Boog Powell. Powell is no relation to the former Baltimore Orioles first baseman.

Alonso finished the 2017 season with a .266 batting average, 28 home runs and 67 RBIs. He signed with Cleveland in the offseason.

Alonso came into the 2017 season with 29 career home runs and 239 RBIs. More than a third of his career home runs and over 15 percent of his career RBIs came during the first half of the 2017 season.

Alonso went two for two with two singles and a stolen base in the 2017 game. He was hitting .258 with 13 home runs and 53 RBIs at the 2017 All-Star break.

If Alonso can gain some stability in Cleveland we might see him in another All-Star Game. The Indians are the fifth team he has played for in his career.
