After being poor at forcing turnovers in 2016, Miami Head Coach Mark Richt told Diaz he wanted the defense to be better at it in 2017. That was a major reason behind the impetus of the turnover chain.

Martinelli had Florida State at the near opposite end of the top 25 as one of the most unlikable programs nationally. Her reasoning is their continued use of a Native American mascot. Florida State fans always use the rationalization that the Seminole tribe themselves have given FSU the ok to continue to use the Seminole name.

Whether or not its the right to do because the real Seminole Nation gives their blessing to use it is up for debate. A Florida State website criticized Martinelli claiming she didn’t do her research.

Nowhere did Martinelli mention that the Seminole tribe had an opinion one way or the other on the usage of their name as a mascot. The Florida State writers next claim is that Martinelli should only go after Florida State for things that have to do with Football.

The Florida State writer is probably ok with the recent scandals at Michigan State and Ohio State as well. Florida State, as well as Miami, have had their share of off the field controversy and scandals.
