Miami football depth chart vs LSU mostly as expected
The other big surprise on the Miami depth chart on offense came at tight end. It was generally expected that Jordan and fellow True Freshman Will Mallory would be the top two on the depth chart when Michael Irvin was lost for four months with a torn MCL.
Sophomore Brian Polendey who had no receptions in 2017 is listed behind Jordan. Mallory is behind Polendey on the third-team offense.
Dee Jay Dallas is behind Homer as the second-team running back. Trayone Gray is third-team. Although fullback wasn’t listed on the depth chart, Gray is expected to be the first-team fullback with Freshman Realus George backing him up.
Senior Darrell Langham and Freshman Brian Hightower are listed as the second-team outside receivers. Sophomore Mike Harley is the second-team slot receiver. The depth chart does not go beyond that at wide receiver.
The first-team defense was as expected. Most of the second-team defense was as well with one big surprise.
Jonathan Garvin and Joe Jackson were listed as the starters at defensive end. Jackson is entering his third season as a starter. Garvin was impressive in limited time last season.
Garvin had fumble recoveries in the Miami football team’s two biggest wins last season. He recovered a fumble against Virginia Tech and followed that up with a strip sack fumble recovery against Notre Dame.
